The Mission of the Public Works Department is to provide effective and efficient design, construction, operation and maintenance of the City's infrastructure. The Public Works Department is organized into five divisions. These divisions work together to coordinate services and enhance the quality of life to our residents, businesses and visitors by providing safe, reliable and effective service consistent with the vision and goals of the community.
Responsibilities
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of City buildings, parks, streets, sanitary and storm sewers, water distribution system and City vehicles. The Public Works Facility is located at 3801 Chandler Drive.
The Streets Division is responsible for maintaining approximately 25 miles of City streets. They also install and maintain signs for the City road network and maintain sidewalks.
The Utility Division is responsible for the maintenance of approximately three square miles of sanitary sewer lines, lift stations, water treatment plant, water distribution system, three wells and the 250,000-gallon water tower.
The City Parks Division maintains a total of 5 primary parks: Emerald, Central, Tower, Silver Point, and Trillium. The Parks Division is also responsible for the maintenance of the stormwater retention ponds, ditch lines and City owned properties.
