Using education to find a solution

Successful code compliance methods always begin with education. Our City Code Official is out in the community either investigating reported concerns or proactively identifying violations. Property owners are often unaware they are violating code, and a remedy and resolution often occur after simply informing and educating the property owner. However, there still are situations where a property owner cannot or does not choose to remedy a violation. In these cases, providing information on public assistance opportunities can prove beneficial in finding resolution. Unfortunately, legal intervention can become necessary if a solution doesn’t occur.
