2. No person may perform work in the city as a contractor involved in building construction, alterations, or remodeling or any other work for which a building permit is required by this code or the State Building Code, without a license issued pursuant to M.S. §§ 326.83 through 326.992, as they may be amended from time to time, or a license issued pursuant to the provisions of this subchapter for the type of work in question.

   If the contractor has a state license and no city license is required, the City will verify the state license.

   To apply for a Contractor city license, please complete the application and attach the following required documents:

   (A) A bond in the amount of $2,000 conditioned upon compliance with all provisions of this code and the State of Minnesota Building Code regulating or governing construction work;

   (B) A certificate of public liability insurance in the amount of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for death or bodily injury, and $50,000 for property damage; and

   (C) Proof of worker’s compensation insurance as required by law.
