Hennepin County 911 Centers are now utilizing Smart911, a service that allows you to create a profile that is visible to 911 dispatchers and first responders in an emergency.
With approximately 70-80% of 911 calls now coming from cell phones, emergency responders have very little information about 911 callers. By creating a Safety Profile with Smart911, you can allow emergency responders to immediately see additional information about your household, including:
- Family members
- Medical conditions
- Emergency contacts
You decide what information to share - you can provide as much or as little information as you prefer.
Your information is secure, and can only be viewed by dispatchers and emergency responders if you call 911. Smart911 allows 911 call takers to see your information, even if you're unable to speak.
This is a free service, and all residents of St. Anthony (including those located in Ramsey County) are encouraged to register.

How does Smart911 work?
Smart911 allows citizens to provide the additional details that 911 call takers may need in order to assist them during an emergency. When you dial 911 today the information received by the 911 call center can be limited based on the type of phone you are calling on. With Smart911, anytime you make an emergency call from a phone registered with your Safety Profile, the 911 systems recognizes your phone number and automatically displays your profile on the screen of the call taker who receives your call. At a time when you may be panicked, or unable to communicate, or it could be unsafe to communicate, Smart911 ensures that the details you would need to tell 911 are immediately available in the event you cannot verbally provide them. Smart911 is free, private and secure.
Why should I use Smart911?
Smart911 can help protect you, your loved ones, and other members of your household. By creating a Safety Profile with Smart911 during a calm moment, you can take time to ensure that the information is correct and accurate and exactly what you would like to be communicated to emergency response teams in an emergency. Your profile travels with you, so if you have an emergency in another area of the country that utilizes Smart911, they will have access to your information.
